Have a look at some of the key changes that you may see in the Google ASDI program in 2026.
- The ASDI program will be more about real-world coding than just training sessions.
- The internship will be a guided route to a full-time role as a software engineer at Google.

What Is Google ASDI?
Google Associate Software Developer Intern (ASDI) program is an internship program offered by Google for the 1st and 2nd year Computer Science students. As an ASDI intern, you will be guided by skilled mentors at Google, and your role will be to perform tasks and complete projects, which will help you learn and think like engineers.
The ASDI has not been listed on the official Google Careers portal yet, but it is expected that the applications will open by the end of October or in the beginning of November 2025.
Many students are also mistaking the currently active ‘Google Summer Internship‘ as the new Step Internship. But the eligibility, responsibilities, and tasks differ in the normal SWE internship and the Step internship. Therefore, the Google Summer Internship is not the same as the Google Step Internship.
